The 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi will be an important event for the capital and the country. The Politburo in the 8th tenure had Instruction No 32-CT/TU on the event. Hanoi’s plan to organize the event is aimed at expressing gratefulness to ancestors who made great contribution to national construction and defence, and passing this historical tradition on to the masses, especially young people. The plan to welcome 1000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi includes a drive to create literature and arts, build outstanding works, hold events according to the count-down clock from 2008 and a hold great festival in October 2010.
